Anne Garner of Business 1st, a Management-One Affiliate, leverages her 35 years of retail experience to help her clients maximize their top and bottom line revenue. Prior to forming Business 1st and beginning her relationship with Management One™, Anne worked as a top-level executive at various retailers throughout the United States. She uses her diverse, real world experiences to work collaboratively and successfully with her clients.
Anne began her career working with a department store chain in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area as a buyer and merchandiser. Thereafter, she spent over 15 years as a partner, and ultimately president, of a 10-store chain of ladies’ specialty stores throughout Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Anne relocated to Houston, Texas in 1993 and worked with a family-owned regional discount department store to improve its merchandising, inventory management, and vendor relationships. From 1996 through 2005, she worked with a Central Pennsylvania-based department store chain with over 200 stores as the vice president of all the private brands.
Anne established Business 1st, a Management One™ affiliate, in 2007 in order to allow her to share her extensive and retail knowledge with others. Her background in both department stores and specialty stores provides her with a broad understanding of the complex issues facing owner-operated retail businesses. Anne’s unique understanding of product and analytical expertise helps her formulate strategic and tactical initiatives for her clients and results in both top line sales and bottom line growth.
Anne is a graduate of the University of Maryland and an executive training program at The College of William and Mary for retail executives.
